Molecular investigation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa mexAB-oprM efflux pump genes from clinical samples and their correlation with antibiotic resistance

Pseudomonas aeruginosa, one of the majority common opportunistic infections, has become a public health concern, exhibiting intrinsic and acquired resistance to wide range antimicrobials. The present work aimed study correlation between P. aeruginosa efflux pump mexAB-oprM genes antibiotic different types antibiotics. All 79 isolates were screened by chromogenic agar, which was used as selective medium for isolation aeruginosa. After incubation at 37°C 24 hr, results confirmed PCR using specific primer pairs 16S rDNA gene spp. identification isolates. MexABoprM investigated PCR. susceptibility test accomplished according CLSI-2021 disc diffusion method 13 revealed that highly resistant ceftazidime (93.6%) cefepime (77.2%). In comparison, high sensitivity imipenem (77.2%) meropenem (67%) observed. patterns 38% MDR multidrug 41% non-MDR, mexA(65\79), mexB(49\79) oprM (37\79) distributed mexA 83.5%, mexB 63.29% 48.1%, respectively. concluded mexABoprM may be associated with moderately piperacillin, gentamicin tobramycin.
